Hot Take: Workday Dashboards as Information Hubs

1 min read

I am always so proud when I hear one of our customers using Workday Student say in a conversation, "We should make a dashboard for that."

One of the biggest issues in higher education is finding information.

A huge benefit of Workday is that you can create custom dashboards easily. You're not limited to what's provided by a vendor.

Instead of putting SO much information into one single dashboard, consider breaking it up into smaller pieces of content.

Think about the various people that could need access to that information.

Here's some dashboards in Workday Student you might not have considered:

  • Non-Citizen/International Students

  • Data Clean-Up

  • Beginning/End of Term Processing

  • Degree Audit Review - used for managing all the parts of graduation

  • Workday Releases/Testing - you can customize the What's New report to various offices so that they can quickly see what they need to review.

Many times offices that heavily use Workday end up creating custom dashboards for power users. When they do extensive tasks in Workday, having everything they need nicely organized can help save time. Furthermore, you can make the dashboard more of a checklist of activities.
