BUILDING CAPACITY
When your team is ready to own what comes next.
Going live is not the finish line. As Workday becomes part of everyday operations, institutions begin asking a different question: How do we build the knowledge, confidence, and internal capability to keep improving over time?
Legato helps institutions strengthen the people behind the system so they can confidently own it long after implementation ends.
Why This Matters
The strongest institutions become less dependent over time.
INSTITUTIONAL LEADERS ASK:
How do we protect our investment by strengthening our people, not just our technology?
Every implementation creates new knowledge. The institutions that benefit most are the ones that capture it, share it, and build it into everyday operations.
Building internal capability helps teams respond to change more confidently, make better decisions, and continue improving without relying on outside support for every challenge.
FUNCTIONAL TEAMS ASK:
How do we help our team feel confident instead of overwhelmed?
How Institutions Navigate This Moment Well
Building Long-Term Capacity
The strongest institutions treat learning as an ongoing investment. They create systems that help knowledge grow, spread, and stay within the institution.
1
CAPTURE INSTITUTIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Document decisions, processes, and lessons learned so knowledge stays with the institution.
2
DEVELOP INTERNAL EXPERTS
Coach staff to understand not just what to do, but why the system works the way it does.
3
CREATE PRACTICAL RESOURCES
Build documentation, job aids, and guidance that people actually use.
4
STRENGTHEN TEAM CONFIDENCE
Help staff solve problems independently through coaching and real-world experience.
5
PREPARE FOR CHANGE
Equip teams to confidently navigate Workday releases, staffing changes, and evolving business needs.
6
KEEP LEARNING
Create opportunities for continuous learning that strengthen the institution year after year.
Campus Story
Western Colorado University invested in the people behind the system
Snapshot:
WCU is a public university in Gunnison, Colorado, serving more than 11,000 students.
After implementation, Western Colorado University wanted more than operational stability. The institution wanted a team that could confidently manage and improve Workday Student without relying on consultants.
Legato partnered with the university to coach staff, strengthen documentation, and build practical knowledge of how Workday Student works behind the scenes.
By focusing on the reasoning behind decisions rather than simply providing answers, the engagement equipped the team to solve problems independently and continue improving long after the project ended.

"Legato was an extension of our team. They worked to understand our goals, correct us where they may not be achievable or in our best interests, provided solutions and workarounds as needed. Legato team members have made this journey more than once. We simply would not have met our deadlines without their help and guidance."
— Aaron MacLennan, Workday Project Manager, Western Colorado University
